Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Heat Treater without more than normal supervision which includes:
(1) Heat treats a wide variety of precision tools, gages, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts; (2) Operates electric and gas-fired furnaces, vacuum furnaces, induction furnaces, endothermic generator and sandblast equipment; (3) Knowledge of a wide variety of alloy steels, low carbon steels, tools steels, precipitation hardening and stainless steels.To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MetalsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work requires considerable walking and standing. Required to lift/carry items weighing up to 44 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices/other employees are available to assist with lifts of 45 lbs. and over. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Skin exposure to burns, scalds, and skin irritations often requires the worker to wear uncomfortable safety equipment such as rubber gloves, rubber aprons, goggles, face shields or a respirator. Subject to combustible and toxic gas fumes. Handles hazardous waste as required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
