Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Heat Treater without more than normal supervision which includes:
(1) Heat treats a wide variety of precision tools, gages, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts; (2) Operates electric and gas-fired furnaces, vacuum furnaces, induction furnaces, endothermic generator and sandblast equipment; (3) Knowledge of a wide variety of alloy steels, low carbon steels, tools steels, precipitation hardening and stainless steels.To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Work requires considerable walking and standing. Required to lift/carry items weighing up to 44 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices/other employees are available to assist with lifts of 45 lbs. and over. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Skin exposure to burns, scalds, and skin irritations often requires the worker to wear uncomfortable safety equipment such as rubber gloves, rubber aprons, goggles, face shields or a respirator. Subject to combustible and toxic gas fumes. Handles hazardous waste as required.
